failing,  probation

and a happy new year…

If this is my second semester at uoft (starting in winter semester last year), and I have only taken 4 courses, (one of them which i will fail), does this mean that I will be put on academic probation for next semester, starting in january? or do I have until April t0 get my act together and pull my gpa up. Also, when they look at academic probation, is it cumulative? Or is it just a semester by semester basis? help me!

A. The fact that you’re going to fail a course doesn’t automatically entail probation.

B. ?Students are put on probation if they have a CGPA that is lower than 1.50, or if they are returning from suspension. I don’t know what your CGPA is, and even if I did I wouldn’t be able to help you. Your registrar’s office would. Go visit them.

C. In order be in good standing, you need to achieve a CGPA of 1.50 or higher.

D. If you can’t do that, you need to achieve an annual GPA of 1.70 to remain on probation till you get that CGPA of 1.50.

E. Go to your registrar’s office

F. Go to your registrar’s office

G. Go to your registrar’s office. Please. I’ve spent a considerable amount of time in various registrars’ offices (don’t ask). One phenomenon I’ve encountered is students that don’t want to go and confront their registrar when they’re having problems at school. Often times, their assumption is that if they go to the registrar, then the university will know about their low GPA or something. Well folks, the university’s gonna know anyway. And if you wait for too long, the registrars won’t be help you at all.

H. So… go to the registrar’s office
