jekyll vs. hyde

Hi my name is Carly and I live in Seattle Washington. I would love to apply to University of Toronto but?was wondering if it is possible to double major in theatre and commerce?
thanks!

I don’t know, Carly, I’m kinda suspicious… are you interested in this uncanny combo because you’re looking for a fallback in case your acting career turns out to be a flop? Or is it a devious scheme to gain the skills and expertise to become the new Ed Mirvish? Oh, and don’t give the old “I’m from Seattle, I haven’t the faintest idea who ed mirvish is…” bullshit. I wouldn’t be surprised if two years from now we saw a “Candid Carly” store somewhere on the Bloor line… oh yeah!

Conspiraciology aside, in theory you COULD take the commerce-theatre combination, but in practice it’s hard to accomplish. As I have mentioned before to young keeners such as yourself, Commerce is a unique program at Arts & Science, with a special program fee (but apparently that’s not going to matter, coz everyone’s gonna have to pay flat fees as of next year, but whatever), and some rigorous requirements. If you do choose the Major program to be combined with some other A&S program, you may have a hard time meeting the requirements for both majors, plus you won’t graduate with a B.Com. If you don’t really care about that, just note that the drama major in particular is a very demanding? program, with lots of rehearsal hours and big-time commitment.

Plus, your social milieu will be super-weird…
