international students,  residence

the axiom of categoricity

What are the best residences to live in for a first year engineering undergraduate student? I am an Indian so it would be preferable to have a good indian community in my residence…also can anyone describe how an international engineering student find new college, innis and st. micheals??

Uhh… it doesn’t go exactly like that. Student residences aren’t really categorized by factors of legal status, ethnicity, or even faculty of study. So I guess your question is what would be a good place for you to live in. And that’s a good one. Different colleges offer different types of accommodation: Innis college offers suite style apartments, other colleges like New College offer dorms.

Another option you might want to consider is 89 Chestnut Residence, which is not part of the college system. From my knowledge, Chestnut (usually) houses a greater percentage of Int’l students, if that’s what you’re looking for.

I mean this in the nicest way, But if you want to be around other Indians, STAY IN INDIA!… A large part of the university experience is to break out of your own community and experience other cultures!..infact on my suite-mate preference form, I’m clearly writing that I’d rather not have anyone of the same ethnicity as me (And no, this isn’t a racial thing, Nor am I trying to forget where I’m from). And yeah apply for chestnut..it houses the most engineering students anyway and find another indian and request that s/he is made your roommate..

I have to agree with the above poster on everything. And if you absolutely want to be with another group of indians go to Chestnut. You will definitely find a place there.
