bad times,  St. George,  timetable,  transportation

fastest way to get from there to here: go into montage, or a jump cut!

HI…
I have some transportation woes. I’m from St. George but due to options advisable to me at UTSC that ensure that I graduate(long story) I have to take 3 classes at the UTSC campus. Three out of the five days of the week I have classes at St. George and at UTSC on the same day. I made sure this was a doable plan because there are at least 2.5 hours in between the transfers. However, I as wondering if you knew a quick route between the two campuses that have been passed on by others in my situation or if one of those magic yellow school buses I see around Hart House is a shuttle from St. George to UTSC and visa versa? Any advice will help. Thanks.

i fished around on a variety of U of Transportation website‘s for ya, but could only come up with a lame UTSC directional web site. at this point in time, only UTM has a shuttle bus (those jerks), so i’m afraid you’ll have to slog through some heavy transfer time unless you can, maybe, find someone to commute with?
i suggest perhaps posting some flyers looking for a ride share program. maybe someone you know has a car and you can split the bill on gas. or buy them tim horton’s coffee for those heavy traffic jams. whatever works.
another suggestion is contacting the UTSC student council. they might have something in place for students for commuting that even my vast askapowers are not aware of. i’m sure tons of students are in the same situation as you. so all you need is one with a car.
you probably get tons of reading done though!

that should give you something to think about while commuting

The TTC is the obvious choice (Scarborough Centre Stn > 38 HIGHLAND CREEK will take you right to campus), it should take about an hour from St George Stn on the subway/RT, plus about 15-20min to campus and (buses run at least every 15minutes until about 10:30 when it goes to every 20 mintues.) GO Transit also runs the “Hwy 407 East GO Bus Service” from Scarborough Centre, which takes about 15 minutes from Scar. Cent. Stn, but will cost more and run less frequently.
Assuming no GO, the whole trip will cost $4.10 return (if you buy tickets/tokens) and you should get there in plenty of time.

Not sure if this is useful, but taking the subway to Kennedy station and then taking the 116E bus to UTSC takes me an hour from the St. George station. Reverse trip is the same. If the 116E is not operating, then 38 to Scarborough Town Centre is next best option.

Leaves for UTSC from Kennedy every 20 min between 6:26am and 9:36am.
Leaves for Kennedy Station every 20 min between 2:51pm and 6:47pm.
