askastudent is a delicate flower?

Hi Askastudent,I have to take CHM220H1. And it says that a recommended co-requisite is MAT235Y1. What’s
your opinion on taking MAT235Y1? How is it compared to MAT135Y1. What is the general consensus regarding this course?

Thank you very much.

Oh, you science students! Will you ever cease dousing me with these fruitless queries about boring courses I?ve never taken, nor do I know anyone who has?

Have you not figured out yet, you fluorescent-light drenched, exponential-equation-obsessed, number-crunching overachievers, that askastudent is not at all familiar with your hard, grey world?

?

I enjoy reading Dostoyevsky (or at least pretending I read him and then using Wiki-quotes to impress my friends), trying to come up with a witty response for every single question presented to me, conducting drunken conversations about the fear of growing up, taking introductory courses in languages (only never to pursue them in the future), procrastinating and making constant references to Monty Python movies. I, in short, am a humanities student!

?

So, dearest asker, I have no opinion about MAT235Y. And no, I don?t know what the consensus is regarding it. The only thing this unqualified-for-life excuse for a student can offer you is me?own faulty decision-making logic.

So if I were you, I would think: How well did I do in MAT135Y (calculus I)? If you did well, and you fear not the monstrosities of limits, derivatives, integrals and infinite series then go for it.

Plus, check the ASSU Anti-calendar entry for MAT235Y. That may give you another perspective.

Finally, what I would do, and this is something that has proven itself in the past for yours truly, is go and contact the Chem department. You can even ask to meet with the undergraduate coordinator. That?s what s/he?s there for. Then you can ask how mathy CHM220H is and to what extent the math co-requisite is helpful/necessary.

So go on now, have a future. I?ll be waiting right here to hear how it went for you.
