it is my first year and i was wondering where you can get free food . JRC is mentioned alot in this site where is it located on campus.<\/strong><\/p>\n

a suggestion . Can anyone giving advise about campus stuff to include location<\/strong><\/p>\n

I’ll assume that by JRC you’re actually referring to the JCR… and as far as I know, there ain’t no free grub over there. Sure, you can indulge yourself with some vegan delights and bio-degradable cup-o’-joes, but I haven’t encountered anything free there, except for the free spirit of hipster intermingling<\/a> (think of it as soul food).<\/p>\n

But seriously now, I understand your concern and can feel your anguish. Since the beginning of my flimsy academic career<\/a>, I’ve been trying to find the keys to the forbidden city of chow gratis. Some people might tell you to attend club\/student group openings and events. Well, even though a considerable amount of patty goodness can be gleaned from PASU events<\/a> and such, these gatherings tend to be temporally concentrated in the first three weeks of September. Some of my friends have tried to mooch on their buddies’ college cafeterias, but that, forgive the pun, is a recipe for disaster<\/a>.<\/p>\n

So forget all of that nonsense. The best and perhaps only thing you can do in order to consistently nourish yourself sans charge is to get a job at some academic department, work-study or other, preferably something administrative. And registrar’s offices and student service offices won’t do- they’re just not part of the grub-grid. Yup, the academic departments hold meetings, conferences, graduate seminars, steering committees etc. etc, all catered by Toronto’s finest. As a lowly administrative serf, you will probably be asked to help around with preparing conference rooms and cleaning up offices, meeting the catering people at Sid Smith and collecting the paper goods after the presentation is over. So besides the modest compensation and intellectual thrill involved with such tasks, you’ll actually be able to live off academic scraps for an entire session, if you calculate your moves correctly. Start writing those cover letters!<\/p>\n
