Thanks in advance!<\/p>\n<p>\u2014\u2014\u2014\u2014\u2014\u2014\u2014\u2014\u2014\u2014\u2014\u2014\u2014\u2014\u2014<\/p>\n<p>hey there,<\/p>\n<p>it&#8217;s definitely possible. however, you do need to have <strong>some kind of extenuating circumstance <\/strong>for your request to be considered. see, i bolded that bit because &#8220;i just really want to take this course pretty please also do you even know who i AM&#8221; is not an extenuating circumstance. so stop asking, CARL.*<\/p>\n<p>by far the most common reason a student might be enrolled in a course they can&#8217;t access &#8211; for whatever reason &#8211; is through the dean&#8217;s promise, which is something that people often misuse, so i&#8217;ma just explain it right now for you.<\/p>\n<p>it goes like this: the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.artsci.utoronto.ca\/current\/course\/timetable\/1516_fw\/instructions-for-graduating-students\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">dean&#8217;s promise<\/a> is for graduating students who need a specific course to complete their program requirements and graduate on time. if that one course is full, and you won&#8217;t graduate unless you take that course, then the registrar&#8217;s office at your college\/faculty can try to get you in.<\/p>\n<p>HOWEVER, if the course is one of a group of courses that you can take to satisfy a requirement, if you&#8217;re looking to fill a breadth requirement which can be completed through many courses, or if you&#8217;re in any other situation where you have more than exactly <em>one<\/em> course option, the dean&#8217;s promise does not apply. it&#8217;s basically a last resort (also, it has a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.artsci.utoronto.ca\/current\/course\/timetable\/1516_fw\/instructions-for-graduating-students\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">deadline of August 1st<\/a>, so keep that in mind).<\/p>\n<p>in some cases, it is also possible for the department to enrol students in a course, but again, that&#8217;s on a case-by-case basis.<\/p>\n<p>the long and short of it is this: if you have a unique situation, it doesn&#8217;t cost you anything to swing by your registrar&#8217;s office and plead your case. <a href=\"http:\/\/i01.i.aliimg.com\/img\/pb\/549\/343\/485\/485343549_013.jpg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">throw it against the wall and see what sticks<\/a>, is what i say.<\/p>\n<p>cheers,<\/p>\n<p>aska<\/p>\n<p>* just kidding, carl. you know we&#8217;re good.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Hey aska! do you know if anyone&#8217;s successfully gotten their registrar to enrol them into a course that&#8217;s full? especially if it&#8217;s for their major?
