I\u2019ve taken the class once to get through about two thirds of it, only to drop the course. I\u2019m retaking it this semester and have once again been struggling and am about to take my final in which I need a fairly high grade to just end with a 50%. Because of this, my confidence in passing is a little low and I\u2019m feeling the doubt settle in.<\/p>\n<p>I was wondering, how many times can you retake a course? Also\u2026 Is there a way to petition a required course if one cannot find themselves passing? What would happen if I was to take it as many times as I could and still not be able to pass (hypothetically)\u2026 Can I talk to the Program Director about my situation and have them remove it as a requirement for me?<\/p>\n<p>Thanks!<\/p>\n<p>\u2014\u2014\u2014\u2014\u2014\u2014\u2014\u2014\u2014\u2014\u2014\u2014\u2014\u2014\u2014<\/p>\n<p>hey there,<\/p>\n<p>you can retake the course as many times as you need to as long as you\u2019ve failed the course in your previous attempts. if you pass the course but didn\u2019t get the course you need for your program, you can retake it, but your registrar\u2019s office will have to put you in the course.\u00a0however, your program just <a href=\"http:\/\/calendar.artsci.utoronto.ca\/crs_phl.htm#ASMAJ1001\">requires you to pass the course<\/a>, so you probably don\u2019t have to worry about that.<\/p>\n<p>it is very, very unlikely that a department\u00a0would waive a requirement for you. you can always speak with them about it, and in fact, i would encourage you to do so \u2013 <a href=\"http:\/\/www.artsci.utoronto.ca\/newstudents\/nextsteps\/contact\">your registrar\u2019s office<\/a> is another good stop. both of these offices\u00a0will\u00a0be able to advise you on realistic next steps. they will probably not, however, just drop a\u00a0requirement for you. still, it may be helpful\u00a0to talk.<\/p>\n<p>cheers,<\/p>\n<p>aska<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Hi, I\u2019m having to take PHL245 as a requirement for my Bioethics Major and have been really struggling.
