{"id":19639,"date":"2016-08-08T14:31:23","date_gmt":"2016-08-08T18:31:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/askastudent.utoronto.ca\/?p=19639"},"modified":"2019-07-20T16:16:40","modified_gmt":"2019-07-20T20:16:40","slug":"how-many-politicians-per-campus-have-we-produced","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/askastudent.utoronto.ca\/?p=19639","title":{"rendered":"how many politicians per campus have we produced"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>is it easier to get good marks for political science at uoft mississauga or uoft scarborough compared to uoft st geroge? thanks!<\/p>\n<p>\u2014\u2014\u2014\u2014\u2014\u2014\u2014\u2014\u2014\u2014\u2014\u2014\u2014\u2014\u2014<\/p>\n<p>hey there,<\/p>\n<p>i have a <a href=\"https:\/\/askastudent.utoronto.ca\/?cat=78\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">documented dislike<\/a> of these kinds of questions, because i feel like there&#8217;s no sufficient way to answer them. who&#8217;s to say what would be easier\u00a0or harder for you? i don&#8217;t know you. i don&#8217;t know\u00a0YOUR STORY. and there&#8217;s no\u00a0<em>acknowledged hierarchy<\/em> that i can refer to in order to, like, rank them.<\/p>\n<p>i won&#8217;t play dumb. i know that the downtown campus has a\u00a0<em>reputation<\/em> as a\u00a0more academically rigorous campus than the other two. i don&#8217;t know\u00a0if it&#8217;s the professors or the workload or just the fact that st. george is so much bigger &#8211; and therefore seems more intimidating &#8211; than the other campuses, but it does have that reputation.<\/p>\n<p>that being said, i don&#8217;t have any actual numbers or facts to back up this bad (or good? depending on how you look at it) rap that st. george has as a &#8216;hard&#8217; school.\u00a0i have no way of comparing grades across the three campuses, or anything like that. in addition, i&#8217;ve only ever been a student downtown.\u00a0my own experience was that i\u00a0never found it\u00a0<em>that<\/em> difficult. challenging, for sure, but survivable. one of my POSts was poli sci at the downtown campus, and i didn&#8217;t ONCE cry over my notes in a library. yeah, that&#8217;s what you call <a href=\"https:\/\/m.popkey.co\/0b65cd\/Voeqp.gif\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">a winner<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>that being said: no two people have the same university experience, and you shouldn&#8217;t base a decision like this on what <a href=\"https:\/\/askastudent.utoronto.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/computerchicken.jpg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">some anonymous blog is telling you<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>if i were trying to decide between the\u00a0three campuses, i wouldn&#8217;t make the decision based on something as ephemeral and quantitatively groundless as &#8220;easiness.&#8221; instead, i would consider things like: what courses you need to take for each campus&#8217; program, which campus is closer to where you&#8217;ll be living, which campus you\u00a0<em>like<\/em>\u00a0best, and\u00a0whether any of the campuses offer special programs.<\/p>\n<p>for example, UTM\u00a0offers combined specialists in <a href=\"https:\/\/student.utm.utoronto.ca\/calendar\/program_group.pl?Group_Id=42\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">economics and political science<\/a>\u00a0and <a href=\"https:\/\/student.utm.utoronto.ca\/calendar\/program_group.pl?Group_Id=54\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">history and political science<\/a>, and UTSC offers a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.utsc.utoronto.ca\/admissions\/programs\/public-policy\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">co-op program in public policy<\/a> that may interest you. meanwhile, UTSG has a <a href=\"http:\/\/politics.utoronto.ca\/about\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">stellar faculty<\/a>.
