I heard it is REALLY competitive and hard to get in (Like 500+ apply and only 40 get it or something like that). Is that true? How hard is it to get in? Do your academics really matter? I\u2019m a student coming back from 1yr probation so will that be a big deal? I\u2019m actually doing very well, so far I\u2019m getting As and A+s. I\u2019m also trying to get involved with the school community and I am sure that I will continue to do all that throughout the school year.<\/p>\n<p>If you can share any thoughts or experiences that you know about what it is like to be a don and if it is worth it and what the selection process is like that will be great.<\/p>\n<p>Any information will really help, thanks \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n<p>\u2014\u2014\u2014\u2014\u2014\u2014\u2014\u2014\u2014\u2014\u2014\u2014\u2014\u2014<\/p>\n<p>hi!<\/p>\n<p>first of all, i am so sorry that this response is so late! unfortunately,<a href=\"http:\/\/www.utm.utoronto.ca\/housing\/2018-2019-residence-student-staff-rss-application\"> the deadline has passed for applications to be a don<\/a>. again, i&#8217;m so so sorry and i hope that you were able to find the application on your own. i will still answer the question, for future reference. again, i&#8217;m so sorry.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/media3.giphy.com\/media\/d7fTn7iSd2ivS\/giphy.gif\" alt=\"sorry despicable me GIF\" width=\"225\" height=\"178\" \/><\/p>\n<p>unfortunately, i have no idea how competitive it is to get in. for info like that, you should<a href=\"https:\/\/www.utm.utoronto.ca\/housing\/contact\"> get in contact with UTM&#8217;s student housing and residence services.\u00a0<\/a><\/p>\n<p>since it is a little too late to apply, at least for the 2018-19 school year, you can take a<a href=\"http:\/\/www.utm.utoronto.ca\/housing\/2018-2019-residence-student-staff-rss-application\"> look at the requirements<\/a> so you can apply next year. though i don&#8217;t know whether or not having been on probation would be a &#8220;big deal&#8221;, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.utm.utoronto.ca\/housing\/residence-life\/residence-life-staff-alumni-network\">they do say that there isn&#8217;t &#8220;one type of person who becomes a residence life staff&#8221;<\/a>. take that as you will. however, you do <a href=\"https:\/\/www.utm.utoronto.ca\/housing\/sites\/files\/housing\/public\/shared\/DON%202017.pdf\">need to have (and maintain) a cgpa of 2.0.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>i don&#8217;t know too much about donships, especially at utm, so there isn&#8217;t much i can do to help here. get in contact with student housing and residence\u00a0 (which i&#8217;ve linked above) and keep an eye on <a href=\"http:\/\/www.utm.utoronto.ca\/housing\/residence-life\/get-involved-opportunities-hiring\">this page<\/a> for future opportunities.<\/p>\n<p>i hope this helps, and sorry again for the extremely late response.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/media0.giphy.com\/media\/pZIjL43gnO7du\/giphy.gif\" alt=\"mad men wink GIF\" \/><\/p>\n<p>good luck,<\/p>\n<p>aska<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Hi!
