What&#8217;s your opinion on this? I&#8217;m an out of province stusent so I dont have any friends from high school coming.<\/p>\n<p>\u2014\u2014\u2014\u2014\u2014\u2014\u2014\u2014\u2014\u2014\u2014\u2014\u2014\u2014<\/p>\n<p>hi there,<\/p>\n<p>unfortunately, i&#8217;ve never been a utsc student myself, so i can&#8217;t answer this question from personal experience. what i&#8217;ve heard is that utsc tends to have more local students, so i guess that could lead to cliqueyness if students are coming from the same high schools and already know each other. however, i don&#8217;t know how true this is because i can&#8217;t really verify it with anyone.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/media.giphy.com\/media\/C1hj0olEEDrlieiYra\/giphy.gif\" width=\"400\" height=\"286\" \/><\/p>\n<p>also, to be fair, i&#8217;ve found certain clubs and spaces at utsg to be quite cliquey as well. i think cliqueyness depends on the crowd you surround yourself with \u2014 and if you don&#8217;t like a crowd, you can always find another. in general, i&#8217;ve found that most u of t students mind their own business and won&#8217;t be found chatting with random strangers \u2014 but that&#8217;s not always true, and i&#8217;ve made friends from people randomly hitting me up in class as well.<\/p>\n<p>there are certainly <a href=\"https:\/\/www.utsc.utoronto.ca\/home\/your-campus-life\">clubs at utsc, which you can find out more about here.<\/a> i&#8217;m not really sure what&#8217;s on offer in terms of other student life, but that&#8217;s probably because i&#8217;ve never even been to utsc&#8217;s campus. with that said, i do think it&#8217;s possible to carve out a niche for yourself on campus.<\/p>\n<p>if you take advantage of the opportunities you can find, make a sincere effort to approach new people, i think you can build a meaningful sense of community at utsc. it is a small campus, after all, so i think you&#8217;ll have a better shot at getting to know your classmates, professors, and administrators.<\/p>\n<p>sorry i can&#8217;t be more helpful! wishing you all the best of luck with making your decision.<\/p>\n<p>be Boundless,<\/p>\n<p>aska<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Hey I&#8217;m looking to be a first yr undergrad in the fall at utsc but I&#8217;m seeing a lot of stuff onlinr abt how cliquey utsc is and how&#8217;s there&#8217;s nothing much to do with clubs or student life.
