\ngood question! speaking as someone who got an A in INI 115 (*flips intimidatingly long blonde hair over shoulder*), the class is not impossible to do well in. however, it’s certainly not a bird class and will involve a lot of reading, watching and non-diagetic studying in order to get a good mark.
\nbasically you’ll have to prepare for a lot of time committed to watching movies and doing the readings. i’ve heard that the class is somewhat easier (or maybe just more laid-back) in the summer, and it really was an enjoyable experience. if you’re the kind of person who likes staying inside and watching Bergman films while everyone is playing frisbee outdoors – this might be the class for you. if you have further questions, don’t hesitate to email the cinema studies union at cinssu.fff@utoronto.ca
