\ni have been wondering if it is possible to complete a major in criminology as well as a specialist in history and political science??? that would equal 21 courses, not including my science distribution requirement.. i guess there’s always summer school…….. there is alot of overlap in the requirements for criminology which i would have if i am taking HIS and POL courses. help! i need a sober second thought!

hmm…a specialist in history and political science and a major in criminology sounds pretty damn crazy, considering that the only “appropriate” PoST combinations are a specialist, major and two minors or a double major. i guess it depends on how many credits you can share between the two separate programs. remember that you can share up to 7 credits between PoSTs, and that you are supposed to earn 20 credits at U of T in order to obtain your degree. of course, these things aren’t always set in stone – and many students (including me) end up taking extra credits when course schedules take a wrong turn.
\nwhat i’d recommend is going through the calendar and timetable with a fine tooth comb and planning what works for you. if you can share enough classes that doing an extra degree won’t be a pain in the neck, then that rocks. but if you’re feeling iffy, using that degree navigator thing or better yet, booking an appointment with your registrar, might put things in perspective. it really depends on how much you’ll have to backtrack, and how many credits you might have already effectively “wasted.” you know? speaking of effectively wasted, so glad it’s almost the weekend.
