Question 4 u. i have to read romeo dallaire’s “shake hands with the devil” for a course. i was thinking of purchasing it from chapters\/indigo and i saw that it was just under $25 there. is it cheaper to buy books from the uoft bookstore rather than chapters or indigo??????????? thanks aska! =) <\/p>\n

it’s pretty much a rule of thumb to expect that any price of any book is going to be cheaper than buying it at the u of t bookstore. the u of t bookstore is essentially a cash cow, and while sometimes you may find cool\/cheap things there (like pencil sharpeners for a great future!), most of the time you’re spending extra dough needlessly. here’s a list of places to go to obtain that compulsory copy of anna karenina for waaay cheaper:<\/p>\n
seeker’s bookstore – a weird but well-stocked bookstore that also sells bongs at borden and bloor<\/p>\n
book city – located on brunswick\/bloor, younge\/bloor, on the danforth and younge\/eglington, well stocked and cheaper<\/p>\n
amazon.ca – books also come used and way cheaper<\/p>\n
indigo\/chapters\/world’s biggest bookstore – also cheaper<\/p>\n
ten editions – sussex\/spadina, lots of used books and creepy postcards with messages from the past (send them in to found magazine)<\/p>\n
discount textbook store – at college\/spadina behind einstein’s pub<\/p>\n
sonic boom – sweet records and a good selection of philosophy texts<\/p>\n
also check out the used book stores on younge street (the one next to the world’s biggest is pretty fantastic), queen (abelard’s great), college (balford books is my favourite) and harbord. peace.<\/p>\n
