because all students who work hard to bring grades up are nerds, that means you are probably familiar with star trek and its various spinoffs. in the show, they have ‘red alert’ and ‘yellow alert’ to indicate different levels of…alertness. red alert means you’re about to take a torpedo and a navigation panel will explode and send the stuntman flying over it. yellow alert means stand up straight for a few minutes. academic probation is yellow alert, a warning that your grades are getting to be too low. it won’t appear on your transcript, but your poor marks will. if you’ve pulled your marks up enough, then a bad first year won’t matter. if you’re on the limit of being accepted into different grad programs, earlier marks could make it harder to get it. luckily, doing poorly for first (and second) year is a university pastime for many. besides, aska has decided that students who do well straight off are star wars geeks, the worst of all.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
