How slim are my chances of getting into my desired program (life sci utm) for march.<\/p>\n<p>Thanks (btw ur really helpful :))<br \/>\n\u2014\u2014\u2014\u2014\u2014\u2014\u2014\u2014\u2014\u2014\u2014\u2014\u2014\u2014\u2014<\/p>\n<p>hey there,<\/p>\n<p>ahh, the admissions question. now my friend, i know you probably haven&#8217;t been reading this website as long or as intensely as i have &#8211; and why should you, you don&#8217;t get paid to read it &#8211; but there is a storied history on here of grade 12&#8217;s asking askas whether they&#8217;re going to get in with x average and yz extra-curriculars, and of those askas <a href=\"https:\/\/askastudent.utoronto.ca\/?p=411#more-411\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">absolutely<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/askastudent.utoronto.ca\/?p=747\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">flipping<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/askastudent.utoronto.ca\/?p=571\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">out \u00a0<\/a>on them.<\/p>\n<p>lucky for you, i haven&#8217;t gotten enough of them yet this year that i find them annoying. still, i gotta tell you that asking me this question is kind of pointless. i&#8217;m only slightly more informed than than you are (though i am, of course, infinitely better-looking and much funnier).<\/p>\n<p>like, i don&#8217;t know if you&#8217;ve figured this out from the hokey web design and disturbingly comic sans-esque font, but aska is NOT, in fact, an official branch of UofT admissions. i don&#8217;t work for admissions. i&#8217;m just a <a href=\"https:\/\/askastudent.utoronto.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/computerchicken.jpg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">chick at a computer<\/a>. (an amazingly beautiful, goddess-like chick, but a chick nonetheless).<\/p>\n<p>so what i <em>can <\/em>tell you is pretty limited, but i do know this: firstly, the minimum admission average, or cut-off, if you will, for life sciences, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.adm.utoronto.ca\/adm_pdf_files\/uab_utm.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">is 70%<\/a>. 70%! that means your current average is <i>14% above that<\/i>. seems like a lot, right? that&#8217;s &#8217;cause it is. now, every year admissions seems to get more and more competitive, and i can&#8217;t guarantee you&#8217;ll get in, but i&#8217;d say there&#8217;s really no need to panic. your chances as they stand are pretty good (and not at all &#8220;slim&#8221; as you put it).<\/p>\n<p>so yeah! no need to panic. spend your time not worrying, and do something more interesting instead, like <a href=\"http:\/\/www.panflutejedi.com\/academypage.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">learning the pan-flute<\/a>, trying out <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Family_Constellations\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">family constellation therapy<\/a>, or <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=J5iS3tULXMQ\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">getting ready for the new season of Game of Thrones<\/a>?(WHOOOOOOOOO!!!!!)<\/p>\n<p>cheers, my friend, and i hope to see you around campus soon,<\/p>\n<p>aska<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Hey Aska, Sorry if I am going crazy, but my final first semester was an 84%.
