I’ve applied to Innis, I think I’m gonna get in… now, coming all the way from Sweden, I won’t know a single person in Toronto. I’ve been told most people get their social life started during frosh week. What if you don’t care much for being wasted and partaking in kindergarten like activities? In high school there really was no option if you wanted to make friends, but you’d think people might have, ahem, grown a bit in time for university? I mean, there should be some kind of stage between the math club and food fights.<\/strong><\/font><\/p>\n

you know, truthfully, between me and you, frosh week was not my cup of tea. frankly, i forgot the names of all the people that i met. it’s had long term effects; i still can’t remember anyone’s name, and it’s been two years. i skipped all the drinking binges. however, they are trying now to take the focus off of liquor. but all the stupid kindergarden games are still in play. <\/font><\/p>\n

here’s my advice: frosh week may be dumb, but it’s a week of free food and forced socializing is better than hanging out by yourself, missing home. if you have something better to do, do it. frosh week is this strange phenomenom. it makes the first hard week fly by. you might actually meet cool people. it’s like jellybeans, some of them are yucky, but every once in a while you get a black one, and it’s all worth it. <\/font><\/p>\n

there are thankfully in betweens for those of us who are not solely nerds or philistines. UofT has lots of great ways to meet people, and sac likes to list them<\/a>. also, there’s toronto. ohhhohh toronto, land of a thousand lands. there is lots of stuff to do and see. there is lots to eat. there are symphonies and low down blues bars, and everything in between. <\/font><\/p>\n

i smell what you’re cooking, sweden. just take a look around and you’ll either find or carve out your own niche.<\/font><\/p>\n
