I was just wondering if you have heard anything about the TESOL (certificate program in esl teaching) program offered through woodsworth college? I was thinking of applying once I finish my undergrad. Thanks again for you help as usual!<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

If you want to get into the program for the fall\/winter session (beginning in September) you need to apply by July 2, which is soon, so get crackin’! Late submissions will be accepted for the as long as there is space permitting. So if you can’t get it in right away, you still have hope. There’s a non-refundable $80 fee, a letter of intent, resume, transcripts, and an English proficiency that’s required with the online application. The course is 8 months in length, and it is possible to do it part time.<\/span><\/p>\n

In order to be accepted you need to have completed at least a 3 year bachelor program with a respectable CGPA, and of course be the “right person” for the job. Having a language teacher who isn’t enthusiastic is generally the recipe for a horrible experience on both sides of the spectrum.<\/span><\/p>\n

Personally, I don’t know anyone who’s gone through the program, but I have heard some of my graduate friends talking about wanting to take it for next year. I think it’s a really good idea- but you also don’t need it to be able to teach English in a foreign place to North America. I know that in Asian countries you need to have completed your BA, they’re the most demanding of your academic abilities, however they pay better than the countries that will take you while you’re still an undergrad.
