I <\/span>was wondering whet’s the difference between getting a diploma in UT st george and UTM from what I’ve heard, it is a same paper? will it affect your chance of getting employed in the future? or is it a minute difference of living in mississauga and toronto. <\/span>please let me know<\/span><\/p>\n

Here is the scoop: the only differences between a St. George and a UTM diploma are the autographs at the bottom of the page (ie. President, Dean, etc.). With all due respect to those aristocrats, their names are negligible to any employer. It’s the University of Toronto<\/em> name that you’re paying for my friend (with blood, sweat, tears, social life, sanity, the mortgage on your house if you’re in commerce, etc.).<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Now let’s talk… it seems that you are under the impression that you will have one, singular “chance” at employment after graduation. Friend, that’s only the case if you’re in Philosophy (and even then McDonald’<\/span>s is always<\/em> hiring). You need to expand your horizons! Maybe you could work at Arby’s<\/a><\/span> (my fave) or Quizno’s<\/span> (gourmet). Ok, settle down. You still need to graduate.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Second issue, living in Mississausage is not “minutely” different than living downtown. UTM is hidden is a forested parkland. There literally are rabbits hopping around the footpaths (and skunks too). It made me feel like Sleeping Beauty<\/a><\/span> (as her Briar Rose alter-ego, of course). However, you WILL be judged if you attempt to sing to them, and there are no good-fairies<\/a><\/span>. There ARE on the other hand, amazing residences and visible stars (in the sky? unless you count Hazel McCallion<\/span>), oh, and a plethora of theatre freaks (love\/hate). You would be a bus\/cab ride away from any amenity, and could take courses downtown that are a free shuttle-bus ride away.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The reputation of downtown Toronto should speak for itself: trees in concrete chokeholds, bold squirrels with shaved fur, skunks, smog, and tonnes of things to do in a walkable proximity. You may take courses at UTM that are a $6 shuttle-bus away.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
