I know they do when you initially apply but I need to know whether they do one every single year you apply or just the first time. My ID was stolen last summer and now my credit score is completely screwed but its not my fault! So i need to know whether I should alert OSAP of the fact that my credit score is bad because of fraud or whether it will be okay and I will still be able to receive OSAP despite my credit score being terrible.<br style=\"color: #000000;\" \/><br style=\"color: #000000;\" \/>THANK YOU!<\/p>\n<p>???????????????<\/p>\n<p>hey there,<\/p>\n<p>ugh, i dread OSAP questions. how can such an important organization?have such a crap website? and why does there have to be?the whole circus of looking on the OSAP website to find info, and then having it refer you to your school&#8217;s financial aid office, then the financial aid office referring you back to OSAP&#8230;<a href=\"https:\/\/askastudent.utoronto.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/dumbbedcat.gif\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">and on and on<\/a>??<\/p>\n<p>buttt i&#8217;ll answer your question because you used a lot of exclamation marks and seem <a href=\"https:\/\/askastudent.utoronto.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/prancydog.gif\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">so enthusiastic about this whole thing<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>i went online and looked at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ontario.ca\/education-and-training\/osap-definitions\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">OSAP&#8217;s definition of a credit check<\/a>. they say that?&#8221;if you?re older than 22 and have never received an?OSAP?student loan the government will conduct a?<span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">credit check<\/span>?to review your credit history.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>the way?<em>i<\/em> read that is, &#8220;if you&#8217;ve never received OSAP before, we&#8217;ll do a credit check,&#8221; i.e. if you <em>have<\/em> received it, they won&#8217;t do one. also, according to this helpful ryerson site?(no longer active), students who have already received OSAP in previous year don&#8217;t get credit checks.<\/p>\n<p>so i wanna say you&#8217;re safe, BUT since i couldn&#8217;t find any up-to-date information on a UofT page, if you wanted to make absolutely sure (&#8217;cause credit&#8217;s like, pretty <a href=\"https:\/\/askastudent.utoronto.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/srsbsnss.jpg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">serious business<\/a> or something i don&#8217;t know i&#8217;m not an adult), it may be a good idea to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.adm.utoronto.ca\/contact-information\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">call enrolment services<\/a> and have them confirm it for you.<\/p>\n<p>also, i&#8217;m sorry that person stole your ID, that&#8217;s really horrible. i hope they buy something with it and then <a href=\"https:\/\/askastudent.utoronto.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/canichokeyachandler.jpg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">choke on the receipt<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>best,<\/p>\n<p>aska<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Hello!I need to know whether or not OSAP checks your credit score\/file every year you apply.
