Hey aska,
My name is Chris, long time reader first time writer. I am interested in takin IMM334 in the upcoming semester, but I want to know if anyone can give some advice on the course. Is it a good option to take for someone who wants to get into the Immunology grad program, especially since I am not in the post right now. How were the test and whats the likely hood of doing well in the course. Thanks for your help.
?Cheers
Chris
?Ok, so I racked my brains for funny things to say about this course. Turns out, there is NOTHING sarcastic to say about Immunology. Nothing that’s tasteful anyway.
But I would love to contribute something to this query. Beyond the seemingly obvious fact that Intro to Immunology would help you with an Immunology grad application, according to my research the Department does indicate that “There are no specific pre-requisite courses but a strong undergraduate science background in immunology, biochemistry, molecular biology, chemistry, physics, and mathematics including calculus is recommended.”
I wish I could offer more, but the extent of my knowledge on this topic was solely delivered by Lily Tomlin (as everyone’s favourite quirky yet loveable teacher with killer earrings).
Watching this episode is prooobably an ?exclusion’ to IMM334 (might want to consult the Calendar first).
So, ASKA READERS let’s help this troubled sole out. Who wants to see Chris become an Immunologist?? I know I do. Hit ?em with your comments.
Ps. I wasn’t lying about the celery. Is that actually the world’s most random allergy???

i took imm334. tests are entirely multiple choices, mainly on the details (so that means A LOT of memorization). there’s only one section (Julius’) that’s more problem-solving, so it’s highly highly recommended that you go to his tutorials for his section. (he says that he guarantees that it is possible to get 100% in his section, an i really believe that’s true).
by the way, the final exam at the end of the year is cumulative, which was just really crazy and daunting because there’s SO much material to memorize… so my advice would be to study/memorize hard, obviously, and to do almost all the past tests. there are sometimes repeat questions!
in the end, i did well (after i calculated my own mark), but my final mark was super super amazing (by my standards plus the difficulty of the course), but i think that’s because the profs were being generous and boosted our marks by a lot.
and if this means anything, there’s really no physics or math/calculus involved.
anyways, i don’t know if it would help for imm grad school. i only took this course because it looked interesting. sounds crazy..
