Hi,
I am currently number 25 out of 59 people on a waitlist for fah313..a third yr
art history class. the class size is supposed to be 90 student. Do u think I’ll
somehow manage to get into the course? do profs ever increase the class size if
it is in high demand?
Please I really need the course and i dont know if it will be offered in 4th
yr..what can I do?
p.s I already emailed the department and they said they wont be offering
another lecture section of the course 🙁 what should I do???
not getting into the courses of your choice is the definitive university experience. i would suggest you use one of your well planned out backups, but it doesn’t sound like you have any. you do have options though. a lot of students drop classes after the first few weeks, leaving you a chance to get in. for the lecture you’re trying to get into though, almost one third of students would have to change their minds. do you really want to be in a class where 30% of the students leave after a week?
what with the magic of course registration, a lot of people are going to get bored of waiting, and as they try to add other classes that they actually stand a chance of getting into, your position will go up. perhaps 25 people ahead of you will find something else to take and figure that they have no way to get into fah313. i have also heard of a few instances of students going to a lecture for a few weeks and getting chummy with the prof, who then makes sure they get in.
keep checkin ROSI. best friend, worst enemy….

Pretty sure ROSI emails you when you get into a class now. Finally.
