no, I’M sorry

I’m a student attending high school in Ontario, most universities look at the “Top 6” 4U/M courses specifically but do they look at your final grade 11 marks as well right?

Also, from what I’ve heard from my friends our school doesn’t give a lot of information on the application process. What happens, you submit an online application to the universities of choice sometime before mid-January and the school takes care of sending grades to OUAC which sends them to the universities? Students in Ontario don’t need to self-report their grades or worry about submitting grades on deadline right? If you could that up that’d be great, I’ve looked around on uoft.ca and a few other sites and I’m sort of confused about it all.

Lastly, in grade 12 I’m thinking of taking just 6 courses (five being 4U level and the last being 4M) and taking two spares so I have more time to concentrate on the core courses and less of a course load. Would this effect my application negatively at all, only taking a total of 6 grade 12 courses?

Sorry for rambling on, thanks in advance.

Somehow, I seem to have missed your email amidst the heaps of admission questions i’m receiving lately. Don’t take it personally, k?

So here goes- yeah, the university looks at your grade 11 final marks, grade 12 mid-terms and whatever grade 12 final marks are there. If all that’s good, you’ll be sent a conditional offer, which means you’re basically in, but that could change with your final marks. So don’t screw it up!

Indeed, students in Ontario don’t have to worry about manually sending in their grades. In fact, on the OUAC website there supposedly is a button that says “please have my high school send uoft my grades” or something of that fashion.

The only thing that’s risky in you taking only 6 M/U courses is that if you fail one of them, there isn’t any backup for you. The university looks at the best grade 12 M/U courses. If you feel that taking fewer courses will get you better grades, that’s your call.
