is it just me or are all undergrad programs useless. (unless you’re planning to go to meds, law school, dentistry, etc.) I have even heard from comp sci’s that if they had to do it all over again, they’d just take certification exams because everything they learned at UofT is CRAP.
you are pretty much correct. doctors, lawyers, and engineers might disagree, but i’m with you. i know people with 2 years college who are simply kicking the shite out a my yearly earnings. university sucks unless you’re here for a professional faculty. stick with it though. degree’s are useful for getting into the upper echelons of executive and management positions. while other kids who take an easier/faster route into the work force, you’ll be laughing last.

Studies show that the benefits of a general undergraduate degree in terms of salary and occupational status aren’t usually not visible until 6-10 years down the road. Yes you might be making the same or even less money than your plumber or dental assistant friend when you first graduate but they have a much lower ceiling as far as how far they can go and how much they’ll ever make. So it’s up to you. If you just want a straightforward job without much hope of climbing any ladder or gaining a position with authority/responsibility, then maybe college is for you. Or maybe if you’re more entrepreneurial you could start you’re own business and make loads of money, who knows, it all depends on you and your ambitions.
Keep in mind that things are different for different degrees. If there’s a recession and development/construction is hampered, you’ll probably find competition for a job as an engineer to be pretty fierce….
I recommend taking a year or two off. I did and it certainly strengthened my resolve to devote myself to university… If I hadn’t I probably would be doing a lot worse and would be more disillusioned like those who made some other posts on here.
You’re education is ultimately what you make of it, regardless of how fascist and dehumanizing the institution you attend is.
Best of Luck!
