Hey there,
I’m currently a first year student at York U in the Biomed program looking to switch to U of T St. George for a double major of Psychology and Physiology. I know my Biology credits will be able to be transferred from York, but I’m wondering if my previous college level courses in Chemistry would be able to be transferred. I took one course in General Chemistry, one in Analytical Chemistry and an introductory course to Organic Chemistry and all my marks in these are mid to high 80’s. From what I viewed the content is similar to that covered in the first year Chem courses. Does U of T do course for course transfer credit at the college level or will it just end up being lumped in as some “general requirement” credit like York does?
Thanks, Lyndsay

Hey Lynsday
Have your credits from college already been assessed by York University? If they were transferable to York, the odds are they also would be able to U of T. If they have not been assessed … well …
In general college credits (if transferable) do not amount to the same equivalency for university. For example, year long credits might only amount to half of ones at University of Toronto. It sounds like the material is relevant to courses offered at U of T. It all seems a little iffy to me. The main variable is credit? worth equivalancy (the time you spent on the course might not be worth as much in uni) and if they can count towards your program requirements.
The whole “gerneral requirement” sounds like some phrase that only York would come up with. Nothing is too general at U of T.
I realize this is all very vague and probably wasn’t at all helpful. But altimately it’s up to the Transfer Credit office’s descretion what the college credits are worth in the realm of U of T.
