UTM

hold me closer Tony Danza

Hello,

I am currently going into second year at UTM and have just completed first year in a specialist program. I want to expand and live down town this coming year and switch out of my specialist program and into just a major program so that I have more time to take classes at the down town campus and have more time for other classes (I am a dancer therefore need more time for dance training) because currently my program is very time heavy. My question is can I switch out of a specialist to a major at anytime? and when is the time when utm studies can sign up for courses at St. George?

Thanks!

Hey there Tiny Dancer,

So here’s the dealio … well the first one of the bunch!

As a first year, you would not have been in a specialist program yet. At the end of first year, or specifically after 4.0 FCE you choose your Subject POSts. Meaning that just before your second year you declare your specialist/majors/minors.

You can switch your subject POSts in any year during the add times! I just want to warn you that switching from a specialist to a major won’t necessarily give you more time. In order to graduate from U of T you are required to have; 1 Specialist or 2 Majors or 1 Major and 2 Minors. No matter what combination that you take, you will be taking 20.0 FCE in order to graduate, so the same amount of work.

My guuuuuess would be August 16th as the date you can enroll for St.George courses as that is the last enrollment day for UTSG students!

twinkle toes,

aska
