I’ve got some shocking news: askastudent is not the only person on campus with useful information and awesome opinions. I know, it sounds crazy, but sometimes it’s good to hear what other people have to say. aska top 5’s is a regular feature that lets a diverse lineup of interesting UofT folk share some of their tips, which might range from incredibly practical to incredibly disturbing. this time on aska: Michele Costa.
1. Do not at any time attend a university event on a boat cruise. A boat cruise is like a really, really bad party you hoped would be great with a cruel twist. The thing about a boat cruise is – YOU CAN’T LEAVE, for hours, and hours. Unless you’re a fantastic swimmer.
2. If you need something from someone, GO SEE THEM IN PERSON. emails are no where near as effective. make sure your professor knows your face, introduce yourself in class, go see them in their office hours. this will always come in handy.
3. sign up for the email reminders whenever you take a book out so you don’t end up constantly paying fines to the library. They won’t let you graduate if you don’t pay, you know.
4. keep in mind each year that you choose courses that you need 6 full credits at the 300 level to graduate – don’t realize this half way through your 4th year!
5. Take NEW 240. It will change how you feel about U of T courses.
here’s why you should listen to Michele: she used to be the writer for a little website…just this tiny little thing called ASKASTUDENT. that’s right, she just got outed as a former aska. the last time an aska’s secret identity was revealed, his house was constantly mobbed by groupies and paparazzi…those vultures. anyways, Michele is awesome, and is 1/3 of the washboard collective. if you ever bump into her on the street, buy her some flowers. she deserves some nice flowers.
