able to timetable

can you give me some tips for timetabling? what are the advantages and disadvantages for morning/evening lectures, when are good times for tutorials, and is it better to put them all in two to three days or distribute them through out the week… and so on. thanx.

easy enough. this is totally a personal question. do you work best in the morning or the evening? i find it difficult to wake up early so i try to keep all my courses to afternoons and evenings. evening classes are exactly the same lecture as day courses. your call.
as far as day distributions, i enjoy 4 day weekends and as such try to fit all my courses between tuesday and thursday if possible. the down side is that quite often i end up with two or even three tests on the same day. this is a downside that could be avoided by stretching out your scheduled days.
as far as tutorials go, i find it’s best to keep them close together with lecture times if possible because it allows you to stay focused on that subject when it’s all together. but again, maybe the course is really interesting or whatever and you won’t need that closeness to remain on top of the course. again its your call.
also, try to not load a whack of crappy courses into the same day. try to space the interesting courses so as not to have whole days of nothing but courses you wish you didn’t have to take. those days quickly become discouraging and generally lead to sleeping in.
cheers,
