sex/romance

the raciest question of the year

Hi. Looking for the right place to snuggle with a loved one, on campus. I’ve used JCR for a while, but me and my boyfriend became kinda sick of people barging in on us. We’re both non-res, so there are a limited number of places we can get access to. Is there any almost-deserted common room that nobody (but you) knows about, or any secluded space (with a sofa) that’s quiet and private? You’re my only hope!

(Jaw drops and eyes widen) This is not actually a real question. But it is because you?ve mentioned places on campus and? wow. Wow. So, uh, man. All I can really say is get creative. ?maybe a corner in Hart House? The halls are pretty dark there and they do have sofas, and the pool tables in some of the upper-level rooms are pretty sturdy. Though, really – why is a sofa is necessary? Abandoned stairwells are fun. Or how about corners in the stacks at Robarts? The Innis College Student Lounge, perhaps? I know that you can lock it from the inside too? hmmm? I?m going to leave the rest of this up to the devoted readers.
OH. And can I just say – why? WHY? Why would you do ANYTHING in the JCR? I know that there?s that weird upstairs balcony thing, and that generally there?s a huge poster covering you from the eyes of innocent coffee drinkers, but don?t be pissed off about people ?barging in? on you. People go to the JCR to study, not to have sex or get a show that you?d see in Amsterdam. If I ever happened to walk in on you I would be horrified. I don?t care if you?re commuters. Hotel Waverly has cheap economy rooms at $60/night.

i don’t think this person necessarily meant ‘SEX’ per se.. i can’t imagine anyone doing such thing in JCR. i hope for the sake of others that they did only innocent snuggling!
i’m a non-res too, and i was actually looking for a quiet place to take few naps at. These common rooms are usually filled with student groups and stuff.. i don’t wanna go to a hotel for a nap 😛

That list is not very good.
There are four good places I know of (in order of best to cruddy).

#1 Sir Daniel Wilson Residence – Pool Room
In the basement of Sir Dan’s there is a pool room with a pool table and ping pong table. It can be locked from the inside. You can drink beer or whatever you want there as long as you don’t make a mess. You have to trade your T-Card for the keys to the room with the Sir Dan’s Porter and you have to be a resident. There is a furnace in the room so it is warm during winter. There are two small ground level windows.

#2 Sir Daniel Wilson Residence – Piano Room
Again in the basement, and you need to trade for access. The room is small, but you can play piano. Furthermore, the room is SOUND proof and locks automatically. Use your imagination. there is one small ground level window.

#3 Gerstein Library – lowest basement floor
If you ‘head towards’ King’s college circle and then to Hart House, you will come across a row of cubicle-like study area’s along the wall. The one in the far corner ‘towards’ King’s College Circle is the best spot. Not very romantic, but at least it’s dead quite and away from almost everyone. If there are people there, almost all of them are listening to music and have their backs turned to you. not to mention being separated visibly by a sheet of metal.

#4 BA – the base floor and stairwells.
The floor B1 in the Behan Center has a very unique feature. All benches are shaped like beds and they are ‘pushed’ into the wall. This area does not get much traffic. BA actually stays open 24 hours even though it’s doors get locked after 9pm. Note that any people still around BA are compsci and engsci nerds hanging around the 2nd and 3rd floors, and janitors. Also, the stairs in BA are like a labyrinth. There are certain spots in this labyrinth that rarely get visitors.
Down Side: the smell of concrete accompanied with the stairwells.

    Hope this helped.
