Living in a Hotel All School Year Long

Hi there,
After getting my third choice of college, woodsworth, and filling out the long application form, they redirected me to chestnut which i have accepted just because I need to get out of the house. It seems to have a lot of negative thoughts and downsides to it seeing as it’s the farthest away, the most expensive, you have to share your room etc. I was just wondering… is there anything good about it other than decent food and rooms? do people actually enjoy it? and is it still considered an equivelent in terms of lifestyle( parties, studies, people, living accomodations) and atmosphere to the other residences?
Thanks a bunch!

I did some serious research on Chestnut, and the only negative thing I could come up with was the winter commute.? But, you can easily take the TTC to campus (but buying a student pass will be really tedious and irritating process.).?

?

Living off campus is NOT a bad thing.? U of T can be a city within a larger city, and not being right in the middle of this academic world will allow you to experience a lot of the better things in Toronto.? I found this awesome page of testimonials for Chestnut Residence.? Mind you, it was on their website and probably chosen out of bias, but they?re pretty hilarious, and pretty honest.? Here?s a sample slice for you to enjoy:

“Chestnut was my home away from home. It was very comfortable, and huge rooms. I even like having all that security around. It made the stay feel very safe. What I’m gonna miss the most is the times I spent with all my friends here at rez and the times spent at Chestnut Tree, and at Urban. Urban was the perfect place to study…sometimes. I want to thank all the staff. Everyone has been amazing. Thank you for everything.”

People that I?ve met who do live at Chestnut are pretty stoked that they live there.? There?s a lot more students, and not just from U of T.? There are people who go to OCAD who live there as well.? Not all of the rooms are shared, and even if you did have to (which is bound to happen at many of the on campus residences), it?s a room with two double beds from a modified hotel suite with maids who come and clean for you.? Who?d complain about that?? And from what I understand, Chestnut is by far the drunkest residence of all.? Even drunker than St. Mikes.? So you won?t have a hard time making friends, meeting people, attending parties, etc? all while being treated like royalty.

?

So, in conclusion, I take back anything negative I may have said about Chestnut, because a residence that provides every room with cable tv access is OK in my books.
