I’m crazy, can I do a major and a specialist?

Hi, I’m a prospective U of T student. I was wondering whether it’s possible to do a specialist program AND a major program. I really want to do a Modern Languages specialist (Spanish and Portuguese, 14 courses) and an English major (7 courses). Is this allowed? Or would they consider this a triple major and not permit it? Also, how many courses may a first year student take, maximum?

ummm, I think you could probably pull this off, but you would be required to take more than 20 credits in order to meet the distribution requirements, program requirements and to avoid overlap. my best advice… and you should really take it… make a personal or phone appointment with the college registrar’ office to discuss your options. If you have applied to innis college, the number to the registrar’ office is 416-978-2513. five courses is plenty in first year, don’t get any freak ideas about doing more than that… if you want to pick up more than five credits a year, take some courses in the summer.

cheers,
