Saskatchewan? Where’s that?

Hello,
first of all let me say how much I appreciate this. I’m doing the IB diploma course and I applied to life sciences at the St. George campus what is really freaking me out is my extremely low IB calculus mark (65%) but my advanced functions was a 95% and my overall average would be 87% I’m just wondering if Im basically disqualified because of calculus mark or would they consider looking at my IB points for admission?
?
Thanks,
Student from?
Saskatchewan??

I?m sorry I forgot about your question like the country forgot about your province.??

No, it shouldn?t totally disqualify you if your one mark is that low.? Your over all average is quite respectable and the marks in the 90?s will look very good on your high school transcript.? Your IB points can be looked at, too.? You need a minimum of 24 points to be considered/accepted, but generally should aim for something above 27 depending on how competitive your applicant pool is.

If you have a 87 average then you should have about 32 points or so at the end, which is fine for most UofT programs. As aska pointed out, you only need 24 pts. to be considered, so the low methods mark shouldn’t rule you out. Having said that, some of the more competitive programs (i.e. Engineering) will require as much as 30 or 35 points, so check your prospective faculty’s website. I don’t know the requirements for Life Sci. at St. George, but you should be able to find some information here: http://www.prospective.utoronto.ca/Viewbook.htm

Lastly, as you probably already know, most universities, including UofT, generally make their decisions on predicted (and not final) marks when it comes to IB students, so those are the ones that matter most.
