Transferring

lying liars who lie

Hello aska,

So as a requirement for transfer admissions to UofT, I need at least a 70% in ENG4U. Unfortunately? I was an idiot in highschool and ended up with 3
percent below requirement. I have spent the past couple of days calling all campuses’ talking to different reps asking what I should do. However I keep getting different responses:

One says I should take a second university English course

One said I should try retaking ENG4U if I can

And another said that since I’m a second year student, my two years of studies should cancel out my horrible mark. Oh and she said everyone else
is lying.

I am frustrated at the fact that everyone keeps giving me different responses, and how their response applies to all campuses, and then I will
hear a different thing from someone else.

So I’m writing this, hoping you know who’s telling the truth and who’s isn’t. Hopefully I just have to repeat ENG4U1 because I don’t have room for
an university english course and I can just take it online 🙂

Thank you,

?????????

Hey there!

Okay so at any point, whenever someone needs to look up admission requirements, I always recommend hitting up the Admissions page where you get to specify your situation to figure out your needs.

Now for you, I wouldn’t say anyone was lying per se. Rather, they were probably confused. But from my own personal understanding, no, there won’t be any need to repeat a dreaded high school class. When it comes to transferring from another university, we always look at your grades at your current school and, more often than not, for a GPA in the B-range from said school — meaning not your high school.

But do answer the questions on the Admissions link I gave you to be absolutely clear.

Best,

aska
