film

find yourself in celluloid

I am going into third year at vic college and am currently an english major. I want to know if it is still possible, (and if so, how to) switch my major officially to film. I havent taken any film classes yet, and met with my registar earlier this year. She informed me it was possible and I would just have to contact someone in the film department. I just dont know who this person is, or how to contact him/her.
Also, in the past on the day we choose our courses online I have had trouble gettings into classes that I am not listed as majoring in, will this be a problem for the film classes I want to take??? even if they dont require prerequisities??

in one of my pseudo-intellectual moments where i transcended the merely metaphysical limitations of my being, i had an insight that you might be interested in: university is the place for self-discovery; you have discovered film; film can be your calling; screw the system and your three years of hard work in english and find yourself!
the only catch is that you’ll have to continue declaring english as your major until you have completed ini115 – the foundation course for film students.
you should have less (operative word here) trouble getting into these courses though because the date for third year students to sign up for courses is earlier than the froshies and so ini115 should be open for you to enroll in….should be that is….can never say for sure with those cinephiles….in any case, check to see if there are any other film classes that you wanted to take and if you can take them without ini115 if you have x number of other credits. talk to the dept and see if they will throw you a bone on this one. peter fitting is the cinema studies program director, and his phone number is 416-978-5809 and his email addy is p.fitting@utoronto.ca.
