I suck at in class essays but I’m pretty damn amazing at take home ones. Will there be a lot of in class essays in a course like.. SMC203Y1? Also, I heard seminar courses were pretty easy but I’m assuming a lot of writing is done in class. Would you still recommend seminar courses to someone like me?
Don’t know about SMC203Y. Nowhere could I find any indication that it’s particularly heavy on the in-class essay side.
The seminars you’re talking about, I’m guessing you mean the first year, 199 seminars. Because if you’re talking about higher year seminars, they are as far away from easy as… I don’t have an allegory for that one, sorry. But anyway, I’ll assume you are talking about the first year seminars, and those vary in terms of work load and mode(s) of evaluation- it basically depends on the professor. I don’t know where you got this notion of seminars being haunted by in-class essays, but I’ve taken some courses in my life, including seminars, and have yet to encounter those ghastly beasts (although I’ve heard they exist). Which brings me to the conclusion that your phobia has gotten the best of you. Get professional help!
As for recommendations- take the seminar, and if you find out it doesn’t suit you, drop it. I think that’s as much help I can give you at this point. Or ever, for that matter. Bonne chance!
