innis,  residence

home of the geeks, nerds and wieners…

Halo:
I’m just wondering if it’s true that only people with an average of at least 95% can get into the residence of Innis College. Thank you for your time!

well, i didn’t have a 95 and i got in. it didn’t seem as though my fellow residents were super-geniuses. maybe innis was just having a bad year though.

the truth is that i cannot tell you. when you fill out your application, you say which subject area you’d like to go into. i for example, said humanities. so innis res has all these applications. they sort them into subject areas, like humanities, sciences, arts, and engineers. they then consult a list of the number of slots that they allot to each division. for example, they let in 5 humanities, 4 science, 3 engineers, 2 arts, and 1 returning student that lived at innis last year (this is make-believe, the res houses more than 15 people). then they put the applications in order of averages, highest to lowest. if you were fifth highest in the humanities, you’d get in. if you were fifth highest in the engineers, you would not.

as you can see, i cannot anticipate what the new applicants marks will be. so, i unfortunately cannot really answer your question. it is possible that this year’s hishschool graduates are super-geniuses and will bump the innis res acceptance average up to 95. it is not likely that it will happen though. i don’t give the public school systen that much credit.

the average to get into innis res is a bit higher than other places on campus, because so many people apply to go there, but be realistic, you don’t need a 95.

cheers,
