Hi guys, thanks or putting up and running this fantastic website! Hopefully you’ll have some advice for me too. I have a bachelor in liguistics from the county of my origin (diploma translated by an authorized interpreter) plus I have an Import and Export Business Certificate from Seneca. What educational options would there be at u of t for foreign trade / supply chain / import export professionals? I dont supose I can transfer many credits from the credentials above but perhaps some?
apologies if this info’s somewhere on the u of t website, if so, could you kindly send a link?

many thanks,
Katrina

Hey,

First of all, I just want to comment on how a positive attitude like yours makes aska all the more willing to delve into your query. Ain’t nuthin’ like sweet flattery on a sunny Friday morn…

Even though I’m not the world’s greatest expert on real-world issues like trade and export and chains, my impression is that, since you already have a BA plus some business-related credentials, you’re looking for something in the area of an MBA (are you?). The place to go would be the Rotman School of Management, which offers, so I have discovered, multiple programs for aspiring young capitalists. Plus, they have part-time streams, so you can, for example, engage in international trade in the morning, stop for a sandwich at the innis caf?, and go on to attend business classes in the evening. And that’s just one module. In fact, it’s striking to see how many options there are for business education at the university, considering the (sort of) intuitively unacademic nature of this type of schooling. Oh, well, I guess someone’s got to bring home the bread…

So, there’s admission info on the rotman site, just pick one of the programs and look for ?admission requirements’ or something. Basically for the MBA, they’re looking for a recognized undergraduate degree, along with GMAT results, some work experience, and references. Another option is to take the undergraduate program, apply for as many transfer credits as you can, and finish with a B.Com. I’m not sure what your odds are, but the best thing to do is to contact the rotman people and ask for yourself. Giv’em all the details and ask what are your chances of getting into the MBA program.

Here’s the email for MBA admissions: mba@rotman.utoronto.ca
