Hey!

Here is the official University of Toronto response:

” Repeated Courses
While the University of Toronto recognizes that there may be valid reasons for a student to repeat a course, in general we urge students do as well as possible on their first attempt. In considering students for admission and scholarships, the University reserves the right to give preference to students whose marks are the result of a single attempt at each course. ”

Now here’s my unofficial U of T response. What I’ve heard is the case is if it’s a close call between you and other students (I.e you are right at the cutoff), they will consider your repeated coure. In that situation, they will choose the student who got the awesome marks first time around.

Also, this reponse varies per department. I’ve head that the engineers are a little more snotty with repeated courses.

My advice is do well the first time and be the one to bump the other fools out of the running … buuuuuut I’m also assuming you’re asking this question because you already didn’t do well in a course. I that case, theres not much you can do but to retake the course or build a time machine.

forever and truly,

aska
