What’s your take on the Munchkin Suicide in the Wizard of OZ? Urban Legend or Reality?
this is a very good, culturally imperative question. for those unfamiliar with the munchkin suicide – apparently the scene occurs near the end of Tin Woodsman sequence, as dorothy, the tinman and the scarecrow head down the road to emerald city. after they revive the rusted tinman with oil, there is a shot of the 3 travelling down the (of course) yellow brick road towards their wizard-like destiny. in the very fringes of the frame, there is said to be a munchkin hanging from a noose due to the incessant pains of unrequited munchkin love. (though popular consensus on the rumour is that it’s just a large bird flapping it’s wings.)

whether true or false, askastudent is a sucker for a good munchkin love story. another rumoured debunked: apparently there were never any munchkin orgies on the set. now that’s hot.
