campus,  transfer credits

it’s all one cozy campus…though everyone east of queen’s park is a total freak

So I just finished selecting courses and looked at the campus map to see where
the classes will be held and I found something gross. I saw on the timetable
1st year German courses with place indicator “East” so I thought it was great,
and put it at 12. At 11, I have ECO100Y1. Now, Eco is at Isabel Bader Theatre
and Ger is at Sidney Smith Hall.. isn’t SS on St.George St.. since when is the
street in the east side of the campus.. the worse is I have MAT at 10, at MP.
So my question is, is it really possible to go to BT from MP within 10
minutes.. and what about from BT to SS within also 10 minutes.. i dont want to
be running around all over the campus like a mad cow after every class unless
there are people who do the same thing.. should i make some changes?

straight off…running around the campus like a mad cow? do mad cows even run?  this is making me hungry, i’m going to get a cheeseburger.

(after eating a cheeseburger) sounds like your schedule has some difficulties, but nothing i would call gross….gross would be taking a class inside a whale, or atop a big pile of dead armadillos.  or at con hall.   campus isn’t as big as everyone thinks.  it’s much trickier to get around universities like queens, where your dorm could be far from classes and grocery stores and such.  getting from the Bader Theatre to Sidney Smith shouldn’t be much of a problem, but getting to the physical labs might take a few more minutes.  luckily for you, university is still just school.  and like school, classes rarely get going exactly on time.  lots of professors tend to be constantly late, and the first few minutes of a lecture tend to be the least important.  if you’re interested in the classes that you’re taking, you shouldn’t change your schedule just because of a very packed day.  your schedule could be a big advantage if it means you have days off.  there’s nothing more relaxing that a long weekend every week.

if you’re having trouble getting to your class on time, consider

  • listening to walking music.  aska jogs/walks fast to: ‘born to run’ by the Boss (Bruce Springsteen), ‘american girl’ by Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers, anything by daft punk
  • get a bike.  it will help you get around campus, and more importantly leave campus and go to cool bars
  • if your class isn’t packed with info at the end, leave 3 minutes early
  • investigate methods of time travel
  • get someone to take notes and write assignments for you; make brunch instead of going to lectures
  • brings lots of snacks for when you get hungry…everyone likes a cool lunch box
  • if you need to get to the st. george and sussex area very quickly, get into a fight: the campus police will take you across campus
