I’ve seen neither, but…

what are the differences between margaret addison and Burwash residenecs? which one would you say is better?

Margaret Addison was built in 1959 and they have new carpets. Upper Burwash was built in 1913, and Lower Burwash in 1931. All are co-ed and have co-ed washrooms – except for Gate House (which is a part of Burwash). Gate House is just a huge sausage party. If you’re looking to live in residence until you’re done school, Burwash seems more appealing because of the lower house semi-private washroom options and has a really awesome history. Having lived in Burwash (Bowles-Gandier House), my biased opinion would be that Burwash is the better of the two. But actually, the two are simply quite different. Margaret Addison is more like the traditional dorm-style residence, with shared bathrooms/showers, small rooms, and a *very* social atmosphere. Burwash is more isolated, with typically larger rooms, private bathrooms and less of a social experience (at least in the Lower Houses, I’ve heard that some of the Upper Houses, especially the former Gate House are also quite social and rowdy). Lastly, I will say that, in my not unbiased opinion, Burwash Hall does look significantly nicer, both inside and out.

I’m in Lower Burwash, and the rooms are really pretty and big, and having to share a washroom with only two other people is amazing. That being said, you do have to clean your bathroom yourself (not that big of a deal, really) and these residences are defintely less social than Marg Ad, or even Upper Burwash. But Marg Add isn’t all that great. If you’re looking for a more social res that has a nice set-up and better rooms, try RJ (Rowell Jackman). And if you’ve got a few friends you want to live with but not share a bedroom with, all the better, because RJ has single rooms that open out onto your own common room that you and three or four of your friends will share.
