campus,  first year,  studying

i love libraries?

My friend and I are looking for some study space, something with a WINDOW where we can talk, good lighting, that’s kind of secluded, with a desk and a table, and possibly comfy chairs.
Does such a place exist?
We’ve looked into Hart House, the Map Room, but the chairs were too comfortable. Can you recommend some nice study space that isn’t too prison-like? (WINDOWS PLEASE!)

windows, eh? i guess that rules out the dungeon master-like conditions of our good friend Robarts library.
for you sir, i recommend the beatific environment of the Emmanuel College library. located directly across from the ROM on (i think) the second floor of Emmanuel College (there’s signs anyways), this library has everything you could ask out of a study space: lots of windows, cool chandeliers, books (natch), working computers, and chairs that don’t hurt your butt but won’t make you pass out from Hart House-style luxury either.
other nice libraries a little off the beaten path include:
the toronto public library branch at college and spadina
the munk centre (so pretty!)
and the record room at hart house (because robbe-grillet and led zeppelin are always a killer combo)
p.s. never study/go in Coffeetime – ever. it’s eerie, indiana.
cheers, askastudent

Try the Chemistry Library on the 4th floor of the Lash Miller Chemical Laboratories. I love the view of the fountain and the Davenport garden from there.

if you live on or near campus…the little extra addons at SS (the ones in the front and back) are pretty nice on the weekends and it’s really quiet

also if you can sneak into med sci on the weekends…the caf is a great place to study too
