You Can Stuff Your Sorries in a Sack!

Hi Askastudent,I am a Commerce student. I have a few questions regarding to my November graduation.

I am not doing so well in my program that I only have CGPA of 1.82. In order to graduate, I need at least 1.85. I know that I have to pull up my CGPA. But what would happen if my CGPA is still lower than 1.85?? Can I still graduate?

Another thing is that I am leaving the country by the end of August and I want to take my graduation photo before that. Do you know where and to whom I could contact for graduation photo taking?? Also, after I have taken the graduation photo, is it possible to ask UT to send it to me to the place I live in?? By the way, I live in China.

The last question is that I need to know all my marks before I leave the country. So do you know when is the earliest time I could check my mark on ROSI?? Is it a week after exam? or two weeks? If there is any mistake on the course mark, when is the earliest time I could get it corrected?

By the way, does school close immediately after all summer exams are done??

I am really sorry for leaving you a whole bunch of stupid questions, but I desperately need their answers so…

Many many thanks and I will appreciate for your answers.

Best,
Natalie

Well, Natalie, at least you?re aware of the nature of your questions? The real problem is- if you know they’re stupid, and still you proceed to ask them, doesn?t that automatically make them even stupider?

But askastudent is a compassionate soul, and I?ll do my best to quench your thirst for boring information? here goes:

1. This is actually a good question. Well, ?good? is kind of an overstatement, but it?s important. If you do not fulfill the 1.85 CGPA requirement, you won?t be able to graduate with a B.Com. You can either take some more courses to improve your GPA, or graduate with a B.A (no honours) and a double major in Commerce and Economics. But no one in his/her right mind would want to do that after putting up with four years of Commerce, and especially since you can?t upgrade the B.A. degree to a B.Com. ever.

So do yourself a favour, talk to your college advisor?

2. This one isn?t that good. How would I know when you take your grad photos??? Every college works with a separate studio, and has different dates. Again contact your college, and then you can ask them if they can mail the composite (although I doubt they will). By the way, I live on Jarvis.

3. Woah woah woah?. So you?re assuming there?s going to be a mistake in your mark before you actually got it? I consider myself to be paranoid, but this is just too much?

The marks should be up roughly a week or two after the final exam, but it depends on when the specific professor submits the marks to the department. Which basically means it could be anywhere from one week to one month. And the earliest time you can get your mark corrected is, well, when it?s up on your transcript! But that?s the obvious bit. What you really need to know is that there is a deadline for final mark rechecks, and that?s 6 months after the final exam period. Before you go through that procedure (details on page 499 of the calendar), it?s advisable to talk to your professor, who might be able to correct any error on the spot. Wait a minute, you haven?t even received it yet?

4. Ok, this is just plain ol? cruelty. You specifically said the last one was your final question! BTW the answer is no.

Wow, that was tough. I think I?ll go now and lie down for a bit.
