    Hi askastudent…
Been cruising your website for the past half hour and couple questions popped up:
    1) Exactly how hard is UfT Commerce? I haven’t got my acceptance letter yet, but I can’t decide between art degree with a business major or just the hardcore business. Call me a hippie but I’m really not all that interested in money.
    2) Is St. Mike’s a college of Catholic girls gone wild, finally free from the iron grip of their parents? If so, unfortunately, I think it’s my destiny.
    3) Lastly (a stupid question but considering my background, see above) how should one get alcohol underage? Am I just going to have to continue sucking up to (not literally) 19 year olds for favours?
    Thanks a milllion…

why does commerce make our lives so difficult?

i got accepted into sciences while i am really planning to go into commerce…don’t even ask me why i didn’t hestitate to apply to science in the first place… I talked to the counsellor and they told me I would
have to re-apply for commerce now and they will cancel my acceptance for science, or I can try to compete with millions of others when I register my course for commerce courses this year and try even harder to ace all of them to declare major next year. They also have made it very clear all those options they just told me aren’t really options ‘cuz it’s just too diffucult.
So does that mean I’m going to be stuck with science for the rest of my life? Or do i have to waste one year taking something I don’t think I like too much? I really can’t stand the boredom chemistry provides
me…and i’m very bad with physics and calculus…in every way i don’t see myself doing well in science…though i was seriously considering to do studies relating to bio-weapons or clonging…
Or can I take commerce courses in recognized colleges in Toronto and transfer the credits i earn there to U of T to apply for commerce next year? If so, what colleges there are that might be a good choice?
last little question…….is the regisration date on August 1st or something? Is it all the same for everybody in U of T, or it depends on your average ?

    commerce and trinity acceptance

Is it not true the colleges differ from each other in different faculties? i mean, if i choose commerce as my major, i can choose any of the college as well?
Will the amount of student influence my applying to UofT? e.g. Trinity will accept only 350 freshmen, dose it mean the chances there are less?
    Thans

    ———————————————

first: if you choose commerce as a major, you can belong to any college without being at a disadvantage. You will have the same academic opportunity, and classes, as students belonging to another college.
second: if you apply to a college and do not get accepted into that specific one, then you will be considered for other colleges as well. you better check up on that last point to make sure I am not talking out of my ass.
yes, trin is harder to get into. that is to say that the average needed for acceptance is higher. every college has a certain number of spots open to each stream of each program. for example, innis knows it’s allowed to let in so many humanities students and this many business students. the number for students does effect everyone’s chances of getting in, because they accept on a descending order of grades. what i mean is that the best, then second best, then third, down to the very lowest.

    balancing on a log

Okay, I know someone in their first year at U of T in commerce, and he is busting his butt just to keep up with his studies-I mean, he does nothing else! And he says he is still behind and can’t figure out how everyone is able to go out all of the time and not touch their books. Now, this baffles me too, as I am also a very diligent worker..but I like to play in orchestras and symphonic bands and I dance, etc-am I going to have time or what!??! How do you people do it????? Do you actually study? How are you all even still AT university?? TELL ME YOUR SECRETS NOW BEFORE I START NEXT FALL!
