    to dream the impossible dream

Unlike all the over achievers that I have been seeing asking questions on this website worried as to whether or not the university of Toronto would accept their stellar grades. I am deeply sorry to say that I am but an average student who receives marks that range between the low to high 70s (although I do attain the rare low to mid 80 every once in a while and even rarer 90 that I have received once or twice.)

    So here goes my dilemma:
It has always (really always) been my dream to be a dentist. The problem is although I have the brains to get stellar marks and get early acceptance into any university that I want–my marks have shown to say otherwise due to family issues).

Question: Should I give it up (meaning is it too late)? OR should I keep striving towards my dream?

**and if you think I should keep striving for my dream do you think along with my application for admittance should I write a letter explaining my marks and my hardships. Will admissions officers understand?

    Don’t Forget the “U”

Hey, my name is mo, and I am a canadian thats been living in the states for a while and your sit has helped? me out alot in my search for info about u of t. I am currently going into grade 12, and was wondering if you think my marks are competetive for admission. I have looked at the averages for different colleges and programs and saw that the averages are usually around the upper 80’s. how ever at my school the average isnt recorded. if its a 90+ its a 4, an 80+ a 3 and so on. but Im mainly in honors or AP courses and in those classes its weighted so a 90 is a 4.5, 80 is 3.5 and so on. My gpa is a 3.5 weighted and a 3.25 unweighted. Do you think im competetive for the life sciences program? ( if it matters i have a 33 on the ACT, which is around a 2200 on the sat). Thanks!

attention all nervous highschoolers! your attention please!

Hey! I’ve been admitted to Innis and UToronto has asked to see my final grades. The only thing is I’m pretty sure that I’m going to get a C+ or a C in one of my classes. My other final grades will be As and a couple of Bs. UToronto said that my offer of admission would be subject to cancellation if my final grades aren’t of “acceptable standing”. Will they cancel my offer of admission because of the C or am I just overreacting and worrying myself over nothing? Thanks

Like Sand Through the Hour Glass…

Hello. I’m a typical stressed out grade twelve student that applied to the U of T St. George ages ago and only was accepted, actually, days ago.
While I was being wooed by other univerisities with scholarships and such, I stared at “Pending Review” on Toronto’s site for months!

They’ve sent me a package that basically says Innis is my college but they may not have residency for me.
With nearly a week to decide, I must know: What are the chances of me actually living at Innis, or am I forced onto my second choice (which I randomly decided as New College, but apparently the ‘new’ is kin to the ‘green’ in Greenland).

So I saw your url on the pamplet and decided to try my luck.

I’m not going to sugar your doughnut

Hi Im going to be applying to university soon and I heard that St George is
really hard to get into for Life scince, because the take you english mark,
your advanced functions mark, calculus mark and your top three other course
marks and calculate your average like that. Is that true? I emailed admissions
weeks ago and there not replying and i heard this was the best place to ask.
Should I even bother applying to st Georgr if my advanced functions mark is in
    the 70’s?
PS Which is better utsc or st george ive seen both and all i can say is st
george looks much nicer than ustc

    mesa needsa tudor

Hello! I’m in grade 11, and i want to go to univercity of toronto for Life
science. My average now is 86. all my marks are above 85 except English and
Physics. I know that U of T particularly look at the mark for English and Math.
I have 97 in math… and i suck at English… does it really matter in Gr 12
that my english mark needs to be over 85? I just dont think i can do it…all
my other subjects can be above 87 for sure…so does anyone have any great
ideas about how to get into u of t with a low english mark? Thanks a lot

    …but have you finished it?

I’m an IB student and I’m interested in applying to the Life Sciences at St. George. Admissions indicates that a minimum of 28 is required for ‘some’ programs but I’m just wondering what the minimum score is needed for admission to Life Science and whether this is including bonus points.

wasn’t that in a Jack Nicholson movie?

I am a first year student here at the St. George Campus. I am hoping to go into
the neuroscience program offered here. I wanted more info so I looked through
some websites and couldn’t find the minimum GPA in first year required for that
POST. Since it is a type 3 POST I know that there is a limited amount of seats
available. Any info on admission requirement will be appreciated. Thank you
