in this topic: admissions committee hates on fine arts and engineering

    Hi,
I’m looking information on transfering from University of Windsor to U
ofT. I’ve completed first year at Windsor in English and Philosophy. I’m
wanting to take Near and Middle Eastern civilization. Will all my
    credits be transferable?

    Thank you.

Hello. To transfer to UofT, take a look at this page, which outlines the transfer process you?ll need to follow in order to be admitted into the University of Toronto. According to this page, you should fill out an application from OUAC. Make sure you use the 105 Application, and not the 101 one which high school students use. I’m assuming you’re smart enough to figure that out though, right?

If all the courses you?ve taken are just humanities, social science, or sciences courses so far, I?m guessing that all of the credits will be transferable. The page I linked you to says that credits will be transferable as long as they?re ?academic in nature and not clinical?, which means as long as you didn?t take any classes from like, fine arts or something, you?ll probably be fine. Don?t take my word for it though. I know a friend who transferred into the Faculty of Arts and Science from engineering, but his engineering credits didn?t transfer over. I know. The admissions committee can be SO silly sometimes. Why can’t they have transfer credits for engineering or fine arts courses?! Can’t we all just get along?

On the bright side, even if you lose a few credits, you can probably make it up during the summer. If you really want to come to UofT, then the transfer may just be well worth it.

Oh yeah! I almost forgot. Take a look at this page. It lists the requirements for the Near and Middle Eastern Civilizations program. Are you thinking of doing the specialist, major, or minor program? If you don?t know what those are, they basically represent different levels of intensity at which UofT students can study their chosen area of study. The specialist program for Near and Middle Eastern Civilization program has 11 required credits, the major program has 6 required credits, and the minor program has 4 required credits. You may want to take a look at the course codes to see what interests you. It’s probably also a good idea to contact the department to get some more information about the programs offered here.

    doozer blues

Hi, I’ve been browsing through this site and it looks great.
    But there’s a question that I haven’t seen.
I’m in second year engineering (computer). But as I have found out, I’m not cut out for the engineering life. Which is why i want to transfer to Arts and Science for a Math Major.
I was wondering, will I get the transfer credits required, and is engineering math on the same difficulty as a math major program? I took MAT196/MAT 197 and looked at the math course website, and there are equivalent for some first year courses.
Sorry, One more question, I have a CGPA of 2.52, what are my chances of getting in?
    Thanks

    maybe they’re just sad you’re leaving…

    Hi there

I was wondering if you could tell me who I need to speak to since I’m planning on transfering to another school next year. So far the registrar hasn’t been much help. Do I need to talk to someone at the school I’m planning on going to see which of my credits will transfer or is there anyone at UofT who will know about this?

i think i just heard rudolph cry

If I took the AP macro/micro-economics exams and got credit for ECO100Y, what mark would I get for it.. or would it just say ‘passed’ on my transcript? If I wanna use this credit to apply for an economics or commerce POSt in 2nd year, I know I need like a 67% but if I was just exempted because of AP what mark would they use? Or would the require me to take the actual course and forfeit the AP credit?

    now that’s a lousy vacation…

    Hi

I have a questionn to ask about credit transfer. Actually I was in suspended condition 2 years before. And these 2 years, I go back to my home country and continue my study in a community college of applied psychology. I wish to know if i do have a chance to transfer my credits back in UT for my 2nd year study???

  • campus,  transfer credits

it’s all one cozy campus…though everyone east of queen’s park is a total freak

So I just finished selecting courses and looked at the campus map to see where
the classes will be held and I found something gross. I saw on the timetable
1st year German courses with place indicator “East” so I thought it was great,
and put it at 12. At 11, I have ECO100Y1. Now, Eco is at Isabel Bader Theatre
and Ger is at Sidney Smith Hall.. isn’t SS on St.George St.. since when is the
street in the east side of the campus.. the worse is I have MAT at 10, at MP.
So my question is, is it really possible to go to BT from MP within 10
minutes.. and what about from BT to SS within also 10 minutes.. i dont want to
be running around all over the campus like a mad cow after every class unless
there are people who do the same thing.. should i make some changes?

    life-sci are self-proclaimed geeks

    Hey aska….
Im in 1st year life sciences (yes..i know..we’re geeky little kids who whine about stupid concerns)
Anyway, I was wondering if it would be a good idea to take 5 courses in the fall/spring and then take PHY138 (or another science course) in the summer. Like, does it matter when you take it or what your first year marks are? Does the process work the same way? Does it cost the same?
    Thanx
