    Enough! Enough already.

Hello, i am also concerned about the conditional offer admission. What would be considered a significant drop in marks? Moreover, excluding pre-requisire courses, does the utsg look at marks individual top 6 courses or just the top six overall averages? Thanks!

When you just don’t feel good enough…

    Dear Aska,
    ?
How does UofT feel about summer school classes? I want to go this summer to help bring up my chemistry mark – I didn’t fail, and it’s not even a horrible mark by most people’s standards ( I got an 80). I just want to bring it up and try to understand the subject more before I go to university. Also, I want to bring it up as much as possible to try and get an entrance scholarship (I’m really close!).Thanks!

    Hop on Pop

I have a question regarding Academic Probation. I thought you needed a sessional GPA of 1.6 to be ok, not 1.7? Am I mistaking this for the other campuses (UTSC, UTM)?

Also, is it possible to have your suspension removed? I know it’s a long shot, so I was just wondering if it has ever been done before and if so what are the circumstances?

How lenient are TAs in bumping up your mark a couple of points?

    Thanks!

LIFE ISN’T FAIR! BLAH BLAH BLAH!

    Hi askastudent,
I’m SO worried about my admission to commerce with a 75 English. Some people say 80 is really the cuttoff for English, is that true? My Calculus is 94 and average is 87.7, do i get cutoff just like that?

Also it doesn’t seem fair cuz my friends whose English really is worse than me took English in summer school and private school and they got 85+ for a gr12 English mark.. although i’m happy for them that they got their commerce offer already.

    Thanks,
    C.

Hi, i?m in grade 9, and want to do something in medicine. I want to become a doctor or such. I just want to know what are the cutoff marks (or what should my average be aroud) and how much do they look at grade 9 and 10 marks, if at all? Just a few questions, my avg. in gr. 9 is 97. What should be around in the senior grades. Also, how big a role does community service play. Is it as much of a deal as it is served up to be? Could u e-mail me the answers pls.? Also, if there is additional information you could give me I?d be very grateful. I was also thinking about a uniiversity such as U of T, McMaster, Western, etc.
    Thanks.?

You kids and your fast DSL modems. In my day we had phone lines and had to wait for things…

    Hi, askastudent.
I’ve been searching everywhere and I cannot seem to find (either on the U of T
website or otherwise) what exactly the cutoff is for the Commerce program.
What kind of marks are needed to get into U of T Commerce?? Good ones,
obviously, but how good? I’m currently a grade 12 student in Ontario and
entering 2nd semester.? So far I have exactly 6 grade 12 U or M credits, and my
    marks are 80 (advanced functions), 85 (drama), 85 (english), 86 (history), 88
(psychology), and 95 (law). This gives me an average of 86.5%.? Also, I’m
taking Data Management and Calculus this semester, and hopefully i’ll get a 90
in Data to bring my average up to an 88.? I’m just panicking because basically
everbody and their mother is getting early acceptance to Ottawa U as well as
scholarships, and nobody else that I know applied to U of T, so I really have
nobody else to compare with/talk to. Please ease my fears, lest I end up at
    McMaster.

for the engineers suffering with depression

uh so I just completed my first term in chemical engineering. I generally like
to work my ass off in my calm, mellow, concentrated way till I get high off of
whatever it is I am studying but despite this I was unable to achieve Dean’s
honour list. I am so fucking depressed. Also I really really really want to go
to grad school. Are they gonna care if I didn’t achieve my full potential in my
very first term in university? Sometimes I just feel like dropping out to
    chemistry or philosophy or something.

spill whatever you know that may be useful in this situation.

    much thanks and love.
