st mikes and atheism, a match made in houston…

    Hey,
I got into U of T which makes me quite the happy girl. However I was offered admission to St. Michael’s College which poses a problem as I have no God and that seems to be a key player there. Is it possible to switch colleges at U of T or are you where they put you intially for all four years. Also, if I cant switch what is St. Mikes about anyways? Is it that religous?
    Thanks,

    prove my prof wrong

    1) Alright, some one mentioned that you could not transfer into UToronto if you had already completed 2 years at another college. So there’s a problem for me. I completed 2 semesters at Macalester, completed a semester at a Texan community college and may complete this semester at my Long Island community college. However, a lot of the classes I’ve taken at the CCs I took at Mac so I’m sure they won’t transfer successfully. Also, I wouldn’t mind “disregarding” a few credits if it means I can transfer. Did I screw myself over by going to CC or is it still possible for me to transfer?
    2) Alright, they’ve got this odd system of colleges within the university and then houses within that college. Which isn’t so strange except it looks like you apply directly to the house too. So if there’s only 400 spaces in one house, if you’re their 401st choice, does the university not accept you at all or do you just get placed in another house? Or am I misreading the entire thing and you don’t apply to a house?
That’s it for now. Any other information is appreciated, however.

we don’t want no scrubs is all. no pigeons either.

Hi honey! thanks for the help — (i asked ’bout transfering in Feb)! I’ve hit up the admin & awards site so many times with e-mails, that i think they’re just screwing with me now to see how much more mail i’m gonna send them ‘fore i go mad.
Anyway, no. i could do the transfer thing at other universities, like Guelph and York, but not UofT. But then, if i wanted to go to a crappy university, i guess it would be better to start early to git it over wit. ya know?
i LUV the site, and i think you’re a sweet-pie for doing this. keep it up baby!

    sororities are fun?

    Hi!
First of all I’d like to say that this website is SUCH a good idea. There has been lots of info that I couldn’t find via the UofT homepage by using the ‘search’.
Today however, I just have THREE questions.
    1. How the hell do I switch colleges? Mine is B-O-R-I-N-G! I want to switch to either Vic or Trinity. Why you ask? Because they are more along my atmosphere.
    2. How/where do you get information about sororities at U of T?
    3. How do you become a member of a sorority?
    Thanks!

    another harsh dose of reality

aska: I recieved the following rant from a bitter student –

Hi, first of all, Great Web site and fantastic work! Very Immpresive! I have just discovered this site two days ago but I am realldy addicated to it now.
I want to make a point here and I would like to know what is your opinion on it.
Do you think the university has set up way too many (administrative)barriers preventing students from leaning the knowledge they want most?
I do. For example, I am a transfer student from YorkU(after completed 2 years comp. Sci there) and trying to get into comp.sci and commerce at UT now. I have every thing they want except I do not have a “pretigious MAT137”. I have done the standard full year calculus course at York already which is a tough course too. And I got A+ for it. I know myself that I have a very strong math background. But the departments does not care. I simply was asked to take it again! Which means more money and more time and even worse, delay of graduation.
I may agree that MAT137, in some aspect could be harder but I also believe that York’s calculus course should have prepared the students a strong enough background in the filed as well.
As students, we came to university because we simply want to learn knowledge? Why the hell there are so many “political” stuff making our life so hard? What do you think about this point as a senior university student?
Thanks very much for your time.
